Weather

Very cold with poor visibility and snow early, becoming much warmer.

Conditions

Plenty of fresh snow, particularly at higher elevations. Lots of powder, even on the groomed slopes.

Overall

The proposal to hold Technical and Marketing Managers meetings in an alpine ski resort caused quite a few problems. Geoff Morris definitely did NOT approve.

The Hotel Hess proved to be a wonderful place for a very effective meeting. The group took over the complete hotel and there was little else to distract people.

I skied on the Sunday prior to the meeting.

There was lots of fresh snow, and the skiing was hard work. Even the groomed slopes had up to 30 cm of loose snow on top of the groomed base. Visibility was poor, with flat lighting. The compensation was almost non existent queues.

Intermediate Runs

Return road to village (*) - Very easy, level in places

Top Intermediate Runs

Stand-Trubsee (*) - Steep in places, ungroomed in places, plenty of powder
Erika's Piste (*) - Alternate to Stand-Trubsee, very similar
Jochstock (*) - Steep, mainly groomed, plenty of powder
Jochpass (*) - Mixed. Difficult in places because of flat light. Bottom section, steep powder ungroomed. Very crowded after first run with lots of bodies strewn across the piste.
Kanonenrohr (*) - Great run. Steep and narrow in places, lots of powder to negotiate. Almost deserted because of difficulty in getting to the run.
